Bengaluru-a brekkie paradise

One word that comes to mind when we Bengalureans think about breakfast is the heart of the city - Malleshwaram. Tucked into the crowded bylanes, Shri Raghavendra Stores is located just outside the old Malleshwaram railway station.

Every morning, commuters, walkers, joggers and breakfast connoisseurs just find themselves lining up here for the stellar idli and vada combo soaked in a lightly spiced coconut chutney true to its rich flavour. There is also the Khara Bath, that melts in your mouth and other options like chow-chow bath and pongal. Our personal favourite is the Kesari Bath, a bright yellow pudding that’s infused with ghee, cashews, raisins, and a little more than a pinch of your sweet childhood. The Old-world charm is maintained here and if you're new to the city and want to experience the authentic Bengaluru breakfast scene this tiny hotspot is the place to visit.

The friendly owners do not accept payment before the meal and customer satisfaction is made a priority. No wonder the localites have tried to keep this gem a secret. Make a visit between 7 am and 2 pm and/or 4.30 pm and 7 pm.

So next time you’re taking a train from Malleshwaram and want to take a piece of Bengaluru with you , or your inner Simran needs energy to run towards her raj don’t forget to load up on south-Indian delicacies from here and Of course, no breakfast is complete without sipping on frothy cups of filter coffee to finish up.

P.S. - Dosas are a no show here.
