Looking for a new routine, a new event to attend every weekend is the trend among the youth of the city. Trying to detox from the week's exhaustion, several youngsters have now opted to spend their weekends on experiencing and learning something new.

One such event that has now gained popularity is the pottery workshops that are being conducted throughout the city by various studios. Slow pottery, located in Indiranagar, has been catering to this new demand by hosting both weekend events as well as three-month-courses. ‘Saturday ClayJams’ as they call their weekend three-hours course can be seen bustling with energy as people across various age groups get together to art.

"We see people coming back again and again to the workshops, especially the 'Saturday clay jams', because they are learning something new every weekend.

There is definitely a demand for such experiences because people come, they focus for those three hours, they don't touch their phones, and they create something amazing as they interact with the medium of clay... I think it's becoming a hobby now," said Gauri, one of the teachers at slow pottery.

When asked if there is a particular age group among her weekend students, she further said, “Yes, definitely, the age groups are mostly between 20 to 35, the youth basically. And I think they make up to 95% of the people coming here.”

She also mentions another trend that she has noticed where the youth usually attend such events in groups, either with their friends or with their family, as they enjoy it more as a group activity. Nimisha, one of the participants at the event said, “This is my second event at the Saturday ClayJams, and it has been a great experience for me. I am allowed to bring out my creativity here, and that is one of the reasons why I will keep coming back.”
